Danny Sayag was born in Fez, Morocco and raised in Israel. He moved to the United States in 1984, following the completion of his commitment to the Israel Defense Forces. In Washington, DC, Danny began apprenticing for his Uncle who owned hair salons. Though initially he was just trying to earn spending money, he quickly learned to understand and appreciate the industry. He was particularly intrigued with mastering the processes of colors that can transform a person’s look and therefore their attitude and self-confidence. Danny became a partner in New Wave Salon in Mid-Pike Plaza in 1990, and after many configurations of ownership, he became sole proprietor. Danny bought Rainbow Hair Designers in White Flint in 2005. In 2014, Danny gave new life to both New Wave and Rainbow by combining them into a brand new, state of the art New Wave Salon in Federal Plaza.
Danny really enjoys supporting the clients and the staff who are so loyal to New Wave. He is dedicated to operating a high quality salon, offering his employees the respect, independence and opportunities for growth they deserve. He is always looking for ways to improve the salon experience for every client, and he still loves attending to his own clients. Danny married his wife, Paula, in 1988; they live in Brookeville, MD, and have three sons, Jonathan, Eitan, and Eric.

As a native Washingtonian, my career as a Hair Stylist follows my family’s affinity for creative professions. My grandfather was a prominent tailor and fashion designer for the Washington Elite, and my father was a sought after Home Improvement Specialist. I began hairdressing at 23 years old, and in 1985 launched my career at Rainbow Hair Salon, quickly ascending to Senior Hair Stylist. I have been trained by the best for hair coloring, cutting, styling, and up-do fashions at the Sassoon Academy – England, Martin Parson – Canada, Tony and Guy – Texas, and the Sebastian Academy – California. In order to stay abreast of the latest hair techniques and trends, I have successfully completed numerous seminars in Chicago, New York, Texas, Oregon, and California. As a Hair Stylist Educator, I have conducted hair color classes for Sebastian Academy. I belong to the International Hair Color Exchange and specialize in cutting, styling, coloring, color correction, brilliant blonding techniques, and curly hair. When not at work, I recharge my creative energy by immersing myself in the great outdoors and all facets of fitness; especially swimming, tennis, and weight training.

I was born in Israel and grew up in Tel-Aviv. To this date, I am only 1 of 4 deaf stylists found within the United States since 1999. I attended Gallaudet University in Washington, D.C. for their English Language Institute program with international deaf students. Afterwards, I transferred to Montgomery College in Rockille, MD to pursue graphic design. However, I always had a longing to join the fashion/hair industry. So, I decided to follow my heart and got my license in Cosmetology in MD and VA. I am fluent in four languages – Hebrew, Israeli Sign Language, English, and American Sign Language. I specialize in trendy and designer cuts, color and highlights, blow dry and flat ironing. My favorite aspect of it all is seeing my clients’ happiness after I give them a new look. My hobbies include: dancing, socializing with all types of people, spending time with my family, scuba diving, paragliding, soccer, sport events, volleyball, beaches, traveling, and formal events.

I started in Paris, France in 1976. I formerly worked at Rainbow for many years. I studied in Paris and London under Bruno Dessange, now Frederic Fekkai, Maniatisfor dry cutting, John Sahag, and Vidal Sassoon for precision cutting. I have also worked in New York and Los Angeles. I enjoy cutting and my specialty is bayalage: the art of hand painting. I also do Brazilian and keratin. My hobbies include teaching martial arts, playing the piano, fishing, riding my motorcycle, and I will never lose my love for French cuisine. I place a high importance on listening to clients and understanding their needs. I combine the French ‘flair’ with the English precision for styling all types of hair. “If you don’t look good, we don’t look good”.
I am an experienced stylist and colorist. I have studied with Sassoon, L’Oreal, Wella, Macro Pelusi and others. I believe collaboration with my clients is the key to perfection. The actress Annie Potts once sat in my chair as I nervously gave her some highlights. Afterwards she said “Your highlights rock!” I do a special placement of foils I learned from Macro Pelusi called Hollywood Highlights. The end result is that there aren’t any ‘chunks’ and they grow out gently. I also am proficient in cutting and styling wigs. I enjoy working with anyone who wants something simple or something more dramatic.
My father emigrated from Cuba to the U.S. and settled in Lynchburg, Virginia where he established a hair salon chain, Perez Salon. As the owner and Senior Hair Stylist, my father operated and managed three other salons and opened the first licensed beauty school in Virginia. At the age of 14, I launched my hair designer career as a ‘shampoo boy’ in Perez Salon. After hours, my buddies and I would sneak into my Dad’s salon so that I could color their hair jet black and style it to emulate Elvis Presley. I never looked back and at the age of 17, I became a licensed hairdresser – the youngest hair stylist in Virginia, as far as I know. Over the course of my career, I have owned and operated five salons including Perez Salon and Day Spa in Rockville and Chevy Chase, two of the most prominent and successful salons in the Washington, DC area. I am certified in Keratin straightening and specialize in hair coloring, complete make-overs, thinning hair, curly hair, wig transformation and styling for cancer survivors. My favorite aspect of this industry is completely changing an individual’s hair color and restyling their haircut. I thrive and excel on fashionable and avantgarde hair creations, especially short trendy haircuts with the goal of making my client’s look and feel their absolute best. Three words that best describe me are: intricate, compassionate, and creative. I love my profession and I have never doubted my career choice. I have studied both the art and science of hair design in London and Paris and have won numerous hair styling competitions. My work has been featured in professional national hair magazines. I was both humbled and flattered when I was approached by the Bravo Channel to appear as a featured hair stylist in their Makeover Story Reality Show. I have had the pleasure of working with Jill Zarin from Bravo’s Housewives of New York. My passions include riding my motorcycle with my wife, camping and skiing with my wife and son, and music
